Luck be a lady tonight
“Luck affects everything; let your hook always be cast. In the stream where you least expect it, there will be fish.” - Ovid (gotta love the Classics. Only fools laugh at the latin language-also Ovid.)
I recently had the chance to reconnect with a lot of lovely ladies that I hadn’t seen in ages. By ages, I mean about seven or eight months. But the girls I got to see are all very, very close friends that I was worried that I’d never see again. Honestly.
But I got lucky.
I got a chance to go to see those friends thanks to an invite to a dance. I was at HSC Greek Week and got to see two dear Hollins friends, Miss Brynn Hoffman and Miss Samantha Cole, who decided to make the trip on a whim. I was never planning on going back, but a few things happened that night that changed my mind. In passing, I mentioned that I wanted to get back to Hollins to see people. Brynn, without missing a beat, asked me if I’d like to accompany her to their Cotillion (Hollins prom).
It was there that I got to see all those great friends that I had missed. The great part was that they were all just as excited to see me as I was to see them.
I know that I was only a Hollins boyfriend. But I’m glad to know that so many Hollins women saw me as their friend as much as their friend’s boyfriend.
But I guess the real test of my luck will be how well I keep in touch with them down the road. I’m going to see most of them again this week, and if my luck holds up, I’ll see them again sometime soon.
